Weber Field Service Technician – FST 4 – KIEL, WI USA

Summary

The Service Technician’s primary function is to assemble, install, operate, troubleshoot and repair one or more HolwegWeber product lines, assemble, test and troubleshoot component modules, lead and instruct customers on the proper usage and repair. Up to 30 % or more domestic and/or international travel time. These positions are responsible for the highest level of craftsmanship involved in the manufacturing processes of HolwegWeber.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plan and perform a variety of assembly, testing and adjustments on machine assemblies with primary emphasis on the electro-mechanical systems
  2. Assist and guide the installation, adjustment and repair of finished equipment at customers’ location
  3. Instruct customer personnel (and co-workers) on proper operation of equipment.
  4. Basic controls programming and trouble shooting of electro-mechanical systems
  5. Apply all safety practices and procedures of the trade and HolwegWeber standards.
  6. Monitor erection and installation of equipment to ensure that company guidelines and tolerances have been met.
  7. Service all company products at customer sites; testing, troubleshooting and adjusting as needed.
  8. Use various gauges, meters, and electrical testing equipment to check specifications.
  9. Provide technical support to customers over the telephone, addressing and resolving questions and problems.
  10. Communicate with appropriate company employees regarding product problems to facilitate problem resolution.
  11. Complete all required records and documentation for customers and for the company.
  12. Determine the acceptance of equipment erection.
  13. Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry.
  14. Ability to interface with customers effectively (phone / email) in technical support situations.
  15. Ability to train and mentor on three or more HolwegWeber products in both mechanical and electrical

Education and/or Experience

Requires 12 or more years of technical/assembly experience or minimum of technical school degree in Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Systems, or a mix of experience and education. Proficient on three or more of HolwegWeber major product lines which are; SOS (Variable Size, Fixed Size) Flat and Square, or Auxiliary components. Proficient electrical troubleshooting skills. Strong training skills for customers and HolwegWeber employees. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, electronics schematics, and other equipment repair manuals. Experience or knowledge of servo technology.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, customer specifications, warranties, company standards, and operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees of the organization. Ability to work well with co-workers and other assembly workers.

Written and verbal communications skills in more than one language preferred.  English with Spanish, French, German, or Chinese preferred.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read micrometers and other measuring devices.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications

Ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools, the ability to operate electronic testing equipment, the ability to travel domestically and internationally, and the ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics.  Must be able to work independently as well as with a team.
